The Art of Milk Steaming

Although it may sound simple, there is an art to steaming milk.

With Dhan’s helpful how-to guide, you’ll be able to steam like a pro!

Latte Love at Home

A latte is essentially the big brother of a cappuccino and revolves around soft, silky milk with a single, or double, shot of espresso.

Create the perfect latte with the following ratio: 1/3 espresso and 2/3 steamed milk.

Ingredients

–           36ml Espresso (Double Shots)

–           250ml Milk

Instructions

Pour the espresso shots into the centre of a jug about 10-12cm above the cup to puncture through the caffe crema and bring it higher up the cup. You may find it easier to tilt the cup slightly towards you to get the jug closer to you in the later stages of the pour.

When the cup is half full, lower the jug towards the centre of the caffe crema, with the angle of the jug dipped slightly downwards. “Wiggle” the jug a couple of times to tease the foam out.

Stop wiggling, but keep pouring in the centre, with the jug in the dipped position.

Just before the cup is full, pour forwards, lifting the jug slightly higher to drag the foam into a heart shape.
