The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Guide

As nature begins to awaken from its winter slumber, there’s a palpable sense of renewal in the air. It’s the first day of Spring and along with warmer temperatures and the blooming of our favourite seasonal flowers, there is the opportunity to refresh our living spaces after the long winter months.

It’s time to bid farewell to the dust collected on our high worktops and the clutter accumulated in our kitchen cupboards and welcome this new season with open arms and a clean space.

We have put together the ultimate guide for a successful Spring clean, allowing you to rejuvenate your space with a new level of motivation for a fresh mind and start.

1. Set clear goals

Take a moment to understand what you want to achieve through your spring clean to keep yourself focused and motivated. Is your main goal to declutter or deep clean? Perhaps it’s both – by setting clear objectives and creating a simple list of tasks you can make sure nothing is overlooked and make the most of your productivity.

2. Tackle one area at a time

A Spring clean can become overwhelming, by tackling one room at a time you will feel a sense of completion throughout. We recommend starting in heavy traffic areas of your home, such as the kitchen or living room to finish your initial task with a sense of achievement and then move onto the bedrooms and guest rooms that you see less throughout the day. By setting a timer to complete each room you will promote the avoidance of burnout.

3. Let go of things you no longer need

Whether it’s items in your kitchen, bedroom or office, ask yourself if each item brings value or joy into your life to successfully declutter your space. Donate to local charities and recycle items that you no longer need to give them a new life whilst saving the environment from excess landfill.  Remember, a tidy, clutter free home is known to reduce stress and improve happiness and is definitely a step you should prioritise in your Spring clean.

4. Organise things well

The tactful organisation of your belongings can help promote a prolonged tidy space. By investing in storage solutions like shelving units and drawer organisers, you are able to maximise space and minimise clutter. We offer useful storage solutions that make being neat and tidy a breeze, from corner kitchen storage to made-to-measure bedroom storage.

5. Start from the top down when cleaning

A rule of thumb for house cleaning is working from the top to bottom and cleaning from left to right to reduce dirt falling from higher areas and making the previously cleaned surfaces soiled again. In this step ensure you are dusting corners, hoovering your carpets and paying attention to the surfaces that are out of sight and accumulate grime over time.

6. New bloom, new start

Start your spring clean with intention and follow each step to start a new Spring cleaning journey to transform your environment. Take a moment to appreciate the effort you put into turning your space into a clean, organised sanctuary and practise new habits to keep your area organised.

By following this simple guide, you can tackle your Spring clean efficiently and effectively, leaving your home feeling fresh and rejuvenated for the season ahead.
