Natural Easter Wreaths
Time: Takes as long as you want (30 minutes – 2 hours!)
Difficulty: Easy, young children will need help
You will need:
- Rattan wreath (reuse those from Christmas if you have them)
- Bunch of foliage and flowers (choose faux if you want it to last longer!)
- Ribbon for hanging
- Eggs for decoration (polystyrene ones are easier to handle/attach)
- PVA glue
- Garden twine or florist wire (wire cutters required if used)
Method:
- Display your wreath decorations on the table over newspaper and arrange where you would ideally like to place everything
- Start with the greenery by wrapping it fully around the wreath. Make sure you entwine it through the rattan to make it secure.
- Add the flowers on top poking them through the wreath. If they do not feel secure use florist wire or garden twine to hold down. Remember to cut it long to tie a knot and then remove excess.
- Arrange the eggs on the wreath in a natural fashion and glue down.
- Loop the ribbon through the top and hang!
Bunny Shortbread Cookies
Time: Prep 10 mins/Cook 15 mins
Difficulty: Easy, adults will need to assist
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of salted butter at room temperature
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of flour + up to 1/2 c flour
- Rabbit cookie cutter (or cut freehand)
- Food colour gels (pink and black)
Method:
- Whip butter until smooth and light in colour. Add brown sugar until combined.
- Gradually add in flour until dough begins to form. Add up to an additional 1/2 cup of flour if needed, so that the dough forms into a ball and isn’t sticky.
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap for 30 minutes (no longer). Rest cookies to prevent them from spreading
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- Roll dough to 1/2″ thick on a floured surface, use cookie cutters (or free hand cut!) to cut and place on a baking sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes (depending on size), watching carefully not to over bake.
- Once fully cooled, decorate as you wish!
Easter Cards
Time: 15-30 mins
Difficulty: Easy, adults will need to assist
You will need:
- A4 strong colourful card
- Floral and stripey paper (to cut to egg shape)
- Bright ribbon
- Scissors and a pencil
- PVA glue
Method:
- Firstly decide what colour combinations you would like for your design
- Fold your card in half by pressing firmly. Decide whether you want the card to be portrait or landscape.
- Create a bow leaving plenty of ribbon either side to fit along the length of the card twice.
- Glue the bow at the front of the card at the top. With the bow in the middle of the card, and wrap it round on the inside. Cut to meet neatly in the middle.
- Cut easter egg shapes out of the floral/stripe paper. Use a stencil if you wish and cut round.
- Write your well wishes inside the card and you’re done!
