Toast to fall

The weather is cooling, the leaves are browning and there’s a whistling wind picking up outside.

Whether you plan to celebrate outdoors with the ghouls and the fireworks, or remain snuggled up on the couch with a good book, honor the spirit of the season and toast to this dazzling time of year with these fall-inspired drinks.

Pumpkin spice mocktini

I don’t think we’ll ever tire of pumpkin spice. Last year we celebrated 20 years of the flavor (not sure how it’s been around for that long?!) and new recipes are always being developed to discover how to elevate it and get the best out of its spicy warming goodness. Ingredients (serves 1)

  • Double espresso shot
  • Ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin spice syrup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Dash of vanilla extract
  • Coffee beans

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail mixer just over half-way with ice cubes. Pour double espresso over the top with the condensed milk, pumpkin spice syrup, milk and vanilla extract.
  2. Bash the mixer’s lid on top and give it a good shake.
  3. Pour through a strainer into a martini glass.
  4. Garnish with 3 coffee beans.

This cocktail might seem terrifying, but it’s also delicious, and once you whip it out at your Halloween party, it’ll be our friends’ main request the whole way through fall. Petrifying potions aren’t just for Halloween, you know…Increase the amounts for this recipe and brew up in a large bowl for a pocus punch!

Hocus pocus cocktail

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1/2 cup vodka
  • 1/2 cup coconut rum
  • Any purple soda
  • 2x lemon rounds
  • 2 tsp dragon fruit
  • Lemonade
  • Ice cubes

Directions

  1. Half-fill two decorative glasses with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the vodka and coconut rum into each glass.
  3. Pour the purple soda over this.
  4. Sit a lemon round in the drink and place a tablespoon of dragonfruit on top.
  5. Top up with lemonade.

Spiced velvet latte

This is for the ones who are after coffee shop drinks but haven’t yet committed to the machine. This warming latte was created for foggy fall days

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp instant coffee
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk of your choice

Directions

  1. Make up about half a cup of instant coffee in a separate glass.
  2. Mix with a mini electric whisk until you have a nice frothy layer of coffee sitting on the top.
  3. Froth up the milk with the vanilla extract, nutmeg and cinnamon. You can do this in a milk frother, or with your electric hand whisk.
  4. Add the instant coffee to your favorite mug.
  5. Pour the frothed milk over the top.
  6. Dust with a sprinkling of cinnamon and get cozy!
