Small Touches, Big Difference
When it comes to interior design, there is more to it than meets the eye. Everything you look at – no matter how big or small – should bring joy, be meaningful or provide a necessary function.
For example, take something as small as your salt and pepper shaker… If it sits on your countertop in its original container, style it up! Search through your collection of family china or visit a vintage shop to source a small colorful/patterned dish. Pour a weekly dose of salt/pepper onto it and place it on your countertop. A simple touch like this will make all the difference.
Time to Tidy
When sprucing up your kitchen’s style, it’s a great time to have a real blitz, especially when it comes to organizing your kitchen cupboards and countertops.
Consider storing away appliances that are used sparingly and free up additional counter space. Equally, you may find kitchen gadgets, contraptions, and condiments that you wish to reintroduce in a new way.
If you’re fed up with struggling to find your favorite herb or spice, store them in little glass jars as they create a uniform look. For a lovely decorative touch (and a great space-saving solution!), consider buying a spice rack so they are in easy reach. There are plenty of options available on the market, from large rotating orbit racks to smaller flower styles – perfect for adding functionality and flair to your countertop.
Explore New Textures and Heights
Create visual interest by layering organic textures at various heights, and you’ll open up a world of possibilities.
Play around with countertops depths to make a real designer statement. A thick slab of luxury laminate will look great on an island top and sides. Team with a slimline countertop and add drama with a unique marble-style backsplash.
Color

Fresh Foliage
Flowers and plants (or both!) are always a good idea and will make your kitchen come alive. Think about your kitchen’s cabinetry or the prominent color and select flowers that complement or enhance the room’s overall palette. If you’re unsure, go with beautiful greens.
Once you’ve chosen your foliage or flowers of choice, it’s important to remember that the vessel should also be lovely. Sometimes the simplest of vases can be the most beautiful as they allow the organic material to shine.
