Wren Kitchens Wins for Outstanding Transport Operations

This week, the UK’s number one kitchen retailer – Wren Kitchens – has been recognised for its industry leading transport operations.

Up against tough competition, Wren was proud to take home the Operational Excellence Award at the renowned Motor Transport Awards 2019.

Wren was also shortlisted for the Home Delivery Operator of the Year, Safety in Operation and Technical Excellence Award.

Upon receiving the award Wren Kitchens Head of Transport Operations, Lee Holmes, said: “We are delighted to be acknowledged for our innovative transport operations with the 2019 Operational Excellence Award.

“Delivering over 2,000 kitchens a week nationwide to our valued customers is a complex operation, relying on a fleet of over 150 vehicles to ensure 99.5% of orders are delivered in full and on time.

“Not only that, but we’re continually striving to be at the forefront of safe innovations with pedestrians and cyclists in mind, as well as reducing our fuel emissions with the latest technology.”

Wren employs over 4,400 staff and owns its complete supply chain, delivering more than 70,000 kitchens a year from its factories across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Wren is continually improving in all aspects of its logistics operations and one example includes the recent investment in ten new Mercedes-Benz Anto lorries.

Since 2018 Wren has also saved over £1.6 million in fuel and reduced road miles by 33% thanks to the replacement of greener vans with triple-trunked lorries.
