Winter Warmers

Winter lemonade with mandarin and mint

Ingredients

  • 240ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 120ml of freshly-squeezed mandarin juice

  • 240ml water (plus additional to taste)

  • 240ml caster sugar (to taste)

  • 8 fresh mint leaves

Directions

  • Add the lemon juice, sugar and water to a saucepan and gently heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
  • Crush the mint leaves with a mortar and pestle or by pressing with the back of a spoon.
  • Once cooled, stir in the mint and mandarin juice into the base liquid.
  • 1Dilute with water to taste.
  • Serve over ice for a refreshing mocktail

Hot gin toddy

Ingredients

  • 40ml gin

  • ½ lemon, juiced

  • 50ml hot water

  • 1 tsp honey or sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick

Directions

  • In a mug, mix the honey (or sugar) and lemon juice.
  • Add the gin and top up with the hot water. Stir gently to combine.
  • Add the cinnamon stick and let the flavour infuse, then serve.
  • Optional: Add star anise for extra warmth.

Cranberry Martini

Ingredients

  • 60ml vodka

  • 30ml orange liquor

  • 60ml cranberry juice

  • 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice

  • Ice

Directions

  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, orange liquor, cranberry juice and lemon/lime juice.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake until combined and chilled.
  • Strain and pour into a martini glass and garnish with a lemon or lime twist.
  • Optional: Decorate the martini glass by running a lemon wedge around the rim and then dip into fine sugar.
