Tina Talks: Career in Recruitment & Training

You might remember our recent(ish) interview with Paul Toms, our Chief Operating Officer. We wanted to make this a regular feature on the blog, getting to know a bit better some of our more senior staff.

So this time we spoke to Tina Morton, who also joined us from Phones 4u. Tina heads up our Training Team here at The Nest, taking care of our new Designers and showroom staff.

Tina, can you give us a bit of a background on your career so far?

My career in Training began 19 years ago whilst working for the Littlewood’s group. I worked in their call centre at Preston as a Team Leader and enjoyed developing my team. I successfully applied for a role as an Induction Trainer supporting new starters as they joined the business. Throughout my 8 years of employment with them I held various Training/HR roles across all of their business areas including Financial Services & Distribution. At this stage of my career I wanted to gain some experience in Retail so in 2003 I joined Phones 4u. Throughout my 11 years of employment I’ve held numerous roles and the latter being Head of Learning and Development.

What do you believe to be the biggest opportunities for the Training Team at Wren?

To develop and provide our people with the skills and knowledge to be successful in their roles.

This year we will launch and embed the biggest training intervention in Wren history, delivering the “Wren Way” to over 650 employees.

What is your vision for the future of Wren?

To attract and develop talented people by delivering award winning training in world class training environments. I want us to be the employer of choice in the industry. It’s an exciting time to come on board!

What would you say to new Designers coming on board?

Build relationships with your Buddy and team in the showroom , utilise the time you have in training to learn and understand as much as you can. “If you’re unsure, never be afraid to ask”!

“Remember to keep the customer at the heart of everything you do.”

What do you love most about training?

Helping people achieve their goals and ambitions to become the best they can be!
