The best TikTok Hacks for Keeping your Kitchen Clean

Kitchen cleaning hacks

From food hacks to design trends, TikTok has become the “go to” place for all your household needs, and cleaning is no different.

The hashtag #cleantok has 19.8 billion views and #cleaninghacks has 2.5 billion views on TikTok, showing just how popular cleaning videos really are. But with so many people sharing their cleaning tips, it can be hard to figure out which ones actually work.

We can now reveal the top 3 kitchen cleaning hacks that will get your kitchen sparkly clean. You only need five items (bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar, lemon, dish soap and water) to get your kitchen gleaming with these hacks!

Plug Hole

This is a super simple hack that only needs three components: bicarbonate of soda, white vinegar, and boiling water. This cleaning hack was shared by @badhomeowner and received a whopping 25.1 million views and 2.9 million likes.

In a slightly damp sink, pour around 40 grams of bicarbonate of soda down your plug hole and leave for 30 mins. Make sure in these 30 minutes you don’t pour any other liquid down your sink.

After the half an hour, pour 100ml of white vinegar down the sink and the bicarbonate should fizz. Repeat this pouring of white vinegar until the fizzing has subsided. Then boil a full kettle and pour it all down the sink. Repeat this once every two weeks for a perfectly clean plug hole that will never smell again.

Microwave Cleaning

A super simple and easy way to clean all those nasty bits on the inside of your microwave is to use water, lemon, and vinegar.

Fill a bowl with water, 50ml of white vinegar and half of a sliced lemon. Put this in the microwave for 4 to 5 minutes. Once you hear the ping, leave in the microwave for another 5 minutes.

The steam that comes from the bowl will have the vinegar and the lemon mixed in and will help loosen all those stubborn stains. Once you’ve left the bowl to steam for 5 minutes, remove, and wipe the inside of the microwave with a dry cloth or sponge.

With “#microwaveclean” having 1.6 million views and “#cleanmicrowave” having 1.5 million views, it’s fair to say that this hack is super popular among cleaning enthusiasts.

Chopping Board Stains and Smells

We use our chopping boards almost every day, preparing anything from meat to onions and garlic. With wood being porous, it’s easy to see why we should all be deep cleaning our boards more often.

The TikTok cleaning fans are always looking for the best and easiest ways to make sure their chopping board is clean, as “#cleaningchoppingboard” has 471,500 views!

For this hack, the trusty bicarbonate of soda is back again. Evenly spread your chopping board with baking soda. Next squeeze the juice of half a lemon onto the board. Using the half lemon as a sponge, massage the mixture on the chopping board.

You can do this with just water, but the lemon juice is great for removing any smells within your chopping board; this will leave it looking and smelling like new. Once the paste of bicarbonate and lemon juice has been really massaged into the board, leave for 30 minutes. After the thirty minutes clean with a damp cloth or sponge.
