Spring Clean your Kitchen with this Easy Checklist

Put on the tunes and prepare your cleaning cupboard, as Spring is the time of year to declutter and thoroughly clean your home, especially one of the most well-used areas, the kitchen.

Devote a morning or afternoon and follow this simple check list to create a hygienic and sparkly clean kitchen in no time!

Step 1: Drawers and cabinets

• Pull out all items
• Sort into keep, donate, recycle or bin
• Wipe inside and outside of drawers/cabinets
• Replace any tatty drawer dividers or liners
• Clean glass fronted cabinets

Step 2: Pantry

• Pull out all items
• Throw away any out of date food
• Donate any unopened food you do not want
• Wipe down all shelving and exterior
• Transfer any opened items into airtight jars and containers
• Fill up any other jars that you haven’t
• Label any new jars
• Clean any organisers
• Place items back in easy reach and neatly

Step 3: Oven and hob

• If you can, carefully remove glass from oven door and wash
• Clean the exterior of your oven and doors
• Remove all knobs and grates and clean
• Clean your extractor hood and remove extraction grills to wipe down

Step 4: Worktops

• Clear your worktops and sort, clean and replace anything
• Wipe down appliances on your worktops such as toaster and microwave
• Store any appliances that aren’t used very often
• Descale coffee maker or kettle
• Clean fruit bowls and knife blocks etc.
• Wipe down any splashbacks

Step 5: Fridge and freezer

• Take out all food from fridge/freezer
• Bin any out of date food
• Remove and wipe down shelves
• Wash ice cube trays
• Put food back neatly
• Wipe down exterior of fridge/freezer
• Hoover behind it

Step 6: Sink and dishwasher

• Clean drains
• Scrub and polish sink and taps
• Sort through dishcloths and sponges
• Wipe down inside and outside of dishwasher
• Empty food trap of dishwasher
• Run empty on self-cleaning high heat cycle

Step 7: The rest of the kitchen

• Mop floor
• Clean bins and recycling bins
• Wash windows/windowsills
• Dust and wipe down light fittings
• Wash any cushions or rugs
• Clean down stools, tables and islands
