January Detox: Super Smoothies

Smoothies are a great addition to every diet and a brilliant way to cram in some extra fruit and vegetables to help you reach that all-important 5-a-day. This versatile drink makes for a good breakfast if you’re on the go and it’s also perfect for snacking on to stop hunger pangs later in the day.

We’ve been experimenting with some of our favourite recipes this January to see how we can use a mixture of fruit and veg in our smoothies. If you’re unsure about putting green vegetables in your smoothies, trust us and give it a try. Green veg such as spinach, kale and celery will provide you with an abundance of nutrients and once they’ve been blended together with your favourite fruits you’ll hardly even notice they’re there, promise!

This really simple recipe from Sophie’s Journal is a great place to start if you’re a beginner when it comes to green smoothies. The mix of fruit and veg means this smoothie is packed full of goodness and the almond milk gives it a smooth and creamy finish.

Laura’s recipe from The Confident Kitchen for an Essential Green Smoothie is packed full of energy to keep you going and promote beautiful, clear skin. The 2 cups of coconut water in this smoothie will keep you perfectly hydrated.

Thick and creamy from the avocado and kept fresh with a handful of mint, this smoothie from Laura’s blog, Whole Heartedly Healthy, is extremely nutritious, filling and satisfying – you can’t go wrong!

This deliciously smoothie from Nic’s Nutrition blends kale with strawberry, kiwi and banana for a subtly green finish. It’s ideal if you’re after something a bit fruitier and it can be topped with chia seeds for an extra blast of nutrients.
