See below how you can prepare the perfect pigs in blankets.

Traditional Pigs in Blankets

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of streaky bacon
  • 6 chipolata or cocktail sausages
  • Herbs of your choice
  • Black pepper for seasoning

Instructions

Layout the streaky bacon and season with black pepper and the herbs of your choice.

Roll around the sausages and place on a baking tray with the ‘seal’ underneath.

Give a light drizzle of maple syrup.

Bake for approx 20-25 minutes on SteamCrisp 180°C until the bacon fat becomes crispy.

Top Tip – roll bacon at a slight angle to expose as much bacon fat as possible for extra crisping.

Plant Based Pigs in Blankets

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of vegetarian or vegan bacon
  • 6 vegetarian or vegan chipolata cocktail sausages
  • Herbs of your choice
  • Black pepper for seasoning

Instructions

Lay out the vegetarian or vegan bacon and season with black pepper and the herbs of your choice.

Roll around the vegetarian or vegan chipolata sausages and place on a baking tray with the ‘seal’ positioned underneath.

Bake for approx. 20 minutes using the SteamCrisp function 180°C.

Top Tip – Vegetarian or vegan bacon has a tendency to dry out quickly, so give the Pigs in Blankets a light drizzle of maple syrup to add moisture and give a nice shine.

Challenge the Expected: Halloumi & Parma Ham Pigs in Blankets with Chilli, Sage & Cranberry

Ingredients

6 slices of Parma Ham

225g halloumi

1 red chilli

12 sage leaves Cranberry sauce

Instructions

Cut the Parma Ham slices in half (lengthways) to create 12 long strips and lay out flat.

Cut the halloumi into 12 fingers and place at the end of the ham strips with a thin slice of chilli, 1 sage leaf and basil leaf and 1/4 teaspoon of cranberry sauce.

Roll and place on a baking tray with the ‘seal’ on the underneath side.

Bake for approx. 20-25 minutes on SteamCrisp 180°C until the fat becomes crispy.

Top Tip – These Pigs in Blankets will not only taste great with your Christmas dinner but would also make an excellent starter or addition to a Christmas buffet.
