in a style that suits your personal needs (and for me personally it has to have purple somewhere!)

  • flossiecrossie

The ergonmics and space layout are the most important thing in my view. Once that has been planned then it’s the fun bit of chosing the style, materials and colours. I would always recommend paying particlar attention to the lighting. It can make a huge difference to the mood of the spaces.

  • Eva Vida

I think the style and colour are very important and of course the size of the kitchen :)

  • Tracy K Nixon

    The layout and style!

  • Leanne Lunn

Storage is a must, making use of every bit of space for spices etc to keep organised

  • lisa augustine

I would say personality and practicality are important. A lot of time is spent in the kitchen, so its nice for it to feel like a part of you, as well as have the ability to be efficient at what its meant to do.

  • Margaret

Storage and layout are number one, style has to come after you’ve done the other planning!

  • Carla

    The style

  • Amanda

    Style is the most important

  • Alica

Practicality is first and then colour and style. :)

  • mary heald

Enough storage is the most important thing I look for in a kitchen.

  • Susan Joyce Rogers

Making the most of space for storage and style

  • v3nd3tta

    Practicality and style.

  • Caroline H

Practicality is key. It needs to work in the best possible way for the space I’ve got and provide clever storage. If I can achieve this and it looks fabulous too, that’s a bonus.

  • Teresa Lee

    Practicality then style

  • Fiona

    The style, then colour

  • ashleigh allan

    I would stay style first!

  • kj19

practicality than style .. I need storage first and foremost

  • emma walters

    making it fit for purpose

  • Cathy W

Style and colour is important of course, but I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I need it to be practical above all, with a kick-ass cooker.

  • Mary Chez

Although style should be taken into consideration I think the most important aspect of designing should be practicality..There is no point in having a beautiful kitchen if it doesn’t work for you

  • Caroline Clarke

    Practicality is most important.

  • tima

style is most important to me, i want it to be modern and up-to-date, a bit gadgety, but with great functionality :-)

  • Felicity Smith

Space, where you have it and where you give it up – gives the whole flow the right feeling. Colour if I had to pick between the two though… (colour will date very quickly too)

  • Anna Davison

I really think the space is the most important – it doesn’t matter how pretty it is, if it annoys you every time you make the tea, you won’t want to be in there anyway!!

  • jennifer bolognesi

Colour & style are both important & trying to get it right so that it will look in keeping with new styles with small tweaks as a kitchen can so quickly look out of date. I should know mine is definitely ‘vintage’.that’s being kind.

  • Zoe Goulding

    Space, then how practical

  • claire

    i think functionality

  • dorothy cavender

i think style is really important as it will be a thing to behold for a long time if you get it right

  • hannonle

Definitely the style ahead of the colour.

  • Gemma Snell

    Most definitely the style

  • Justine Meyer

The function first then the style

  • Kate Thornton

The layout and the functionality are the most important. It needs to look great but more importantly its a place to cook for the whole family

  • David Clarke

    Functionality, layout and style :)

  • juliebooth

layout and functionality but colour also important

  • angie thompson

  • Fiona

  • C Kennedy

The style is definitely more important than the colour

  • Katie Skeoch

The style, utilising space effectively is important!

  • kat walsh

Style – it needs to work for you to enjoy it

  • Paul Wilson

  • Gwyn

    Style combined with functionality

  • MJ

I think it should be a timeless look. I’ve seen so many kitchens when searching for a new house to buy and a lot of them look so old fashioned (when I bet they looked brilliant in their day!). Out-of-date kitchens do put me off houses when I go for viewings.

The style is most important for me, neutral shades, as these won’t date. Adding colour with accessories. Granite worktops – money was tight when we had our kitchen and I compromised on a cheap option – and it has scratched in one place.

  • Kay Ellerby

The layout first and foremost, then the colour and style and price has a big part in it.

  • Kay Ellerby

I cant upload the picture?? Can anyone shed some light please.

  • Hi Kay, I’m sorry you’re experiencing issues. You’re welcome to email me your photo and I’ll be sure it’s entered into the competition. I’d love to see what you’ve designed :)

    My email address is ashley.williams@wrenkitchens.com.

  • mrsprune

I think the layout is the most important – the triangle of sink, cooker and fridge around the working area – an island preferably if you have the space!

  • Kay Ellerby

I’m so sorry i didn’t see the reply please don’t think I’m ignorant i feel bad i have a brain like a sieve fibro fog!

  • Kay Ellerby

I will email the photo now

  • Hi Kay, I’ve just received your image and it looks great! I’ve noted it down alongside all of the other entries. Also, I’d never think you’re ignorant for simply not replying! :)

  • Kay Ellerby

  • Michelle Carlin

It’s gor to be functionality – it doesn’t matter how pretty it is, if the layout isn’t practical, then it isn’t going to work.

  • Rachael Medley

I think the colour is the most important, when you first imagine a kitchen.

  • LetsTryThis

I think the style is important. When I redo our kitchen I aim to style it in such a way that it appears bigger than it actually is.

  • Lauren Reed

I think style is the number 1 most important part :)

  • Emma Gallagher

I think the colour, followed by the style are the most important things , you may have this kitchen for many years to come so you need to choose both wisely.

  • Jaime Hyland

Functionality is the most important for me!

  • leanne williams

I think style is the number 1 as you can match colours later

the planning and ensuring the design meets with your family needs :)

  • Kristy Leanne Brown

The functionality! If it doesn’t work for you then there is no point

  • Kate Deakin

The layout – got to be practical. Colour wins over design though.

  • Neil Philip

Would love an island for my kitchen !

  • Paula Phillips

I think the layout of the kitchen is the most important part.

  • Saz Palmer

    The Functionality xx

  • Eileen Tingle

Sufficient storage space and everything positioned conveniently

  • beckielh

I think layout and how well the space and things in it flow, lots of work space and storage is also important!

  • Becca Staples

Has to be a style that will last for a long time with me, with plenty of storage space

  • Becky John

The layout and style is more important than colour, has to be practical space wise, and a design you know you will love for years, as kitchens are not changed very often.

  • Dawn Costen

The style and layout is the most important to me as hopefully you will have the kitchen for a long time to come. As much as colour is very important you also have to think long term where fashions go in and out of style. Choose something that hopefully won’t date in 2 years time.

  • Emma H

It’s got to be stylish and practical, after all your going to use your kitchen every day.

  • D J Freeman

  • Adele J Knight

The layout and use of space

  • Rebecca Evans

The colour & style definitely… Ive recently made my kitchen red & black with a very modern look

I think the layout comes first, you need to move freely, have flow and have easy access to storage.

  • ❄❄️️Kate Cass❄️❄️

I think design, layout and then style

  • Laura Pyper

    layout then design

  • Alex McGahey

The layout and use of space is most important to me, then style & colour would come after that.

  • Sonia G

Plenty of space and the colour and style is important to me

  • Laura Whittle

Layout, needs to be well thought out to make the best use of the space you have x

  • Julie Fisher

Great layout, if it’s not it becomes annoying.

  • George Worboys Wright

Functionality is the most important thing for me.

  • Melissa Lee

I think it has to be designed with a view to the future – how long do you want it for and will you still like it in a year

  • Barbara Handley

I think it should be designed so the things you need to use most are ergonomically placed.

  • Helen Garner

Practicality is the most important thing

    hidden space

The layout and use of space is most important to me
